After classical training on the clarinet at school I spent much of my time at university pretending to be a jazz musician on tenor sax. After some years abroad I picked up the tenor again and continued to work at being a jazz musician playing in various function bands.
These days I am mostly involved in various forms of free improvisation playing clarinet, bass clarinet and alto sax. I play regularly with Oxford Improvisers in Oxford and London. Oxford Improvisers is a collective of experienced musicians from all avenues of music dedicated to the investigation and performance of free improvisation. I also work regularly with dancers in Oxford and beyond. I regularly take part in one-off concerts both as an improviser and as a performer of more composed work. For the past few years there has been an annual concert with AZUT, a quartet dedicated to French music with a twist.
I have recorded CDs with Philipp Wachsmann, Bruno Guastalla and Malcolm Atkins plus numerous appearances as guest musician.
