Figeac is a small medieval town in southern France. It is a tourist destination for the French as it was the birthplace of Jean-Francoise Champollion (1790-1832) who is said to be the first to translate the Egyptian hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone. During a two-week stay in 2023 I worked extensively in the streets of the town. A selection are here put in pairs bringing together contrasting aspects of the town, its inhabitants and visitors.
